Get unstuck: how to let go of limiting beliefs

Are limiting beliefs keeping you stuck in a place of fear? In this four-part coaching programme, you will learn a new mindset through brilliant coaching questions in order to let go of and shed the stories that hold you back. You will create a belief system that supports you and the life you want to live. Each part has a downloadable workbook (PDF) and a short video.

Week one: identify your limiting beliefs

Choose an area of your life you’d like to improve or feel challenged. For example your career, finances, relationships, or social life. Now do a bit of digging and write down all the beliefs you have related to this area of your life. Don’t judge or think too much at this point in time. This is the brainstorming phase and getting to the heart of it. Include your fears, experiences, beliefs learnt from your parents and society.

Highlight the beliefs that are limiting you. The beliefs which are holding you back, and bring forward negative emotions when you say them, think them, feel them. Pick out 3 to 5 limiting beliefs you will initially work on to change. The ones that will have the greatest impact. Part of being successful is focusing on the most important issues in your life. Week two: challenge your beliefs

Referring to your list of limiting beliefs in week 1, we are now going to challenge them. We do this by working with one belief at a time. Acknowledging that they are not true. Download the workbook for week 2 and work through the questions.

Week three: replace your limiting beliefs

Use your imagination and try on a belief that is aligned with what you want. It might be something like ‘I’ve been in an unhealthy relationship and now know what to look for in a happy, loving partner.’ The trick is to go beyond saying it. You really want to step into this new belief and feel how it feels. Almost like putting on a new jacket. Download the workbook for week 3 and work through the questions.

 

Week four: take action armed with your new beliefs

When your beliefs change, the way you feel and act will change. Focus on the small everyday actions too! Audit yourself and measure your steps according to your goal(s).
