Your captain’s story
I chose the path less trodden. It gave me the opportunity to explore many corners of the world near and far and meet beautiful human beings with less and more. I’ve experienced loss – of people, relationships, dreams and my hearing.
I know what it’s like to feel stuck in a job where you are not using your skills. Stuck because your heart is saying one thing and your head another. Stuck because you are attached to something which you no longer need but think you want – a salary, relationship or identity. Stuck in a life you created but want to change.
I know what it’s like to be different. Different at work and play. Different by culture, accent, a hearing handicap and personal story. Sometimes being different is painful. Sometimes lonely. Sometimes it helps us move forward.
My 20s were full of adventure and travel. My passport was my best friend. I adapted to different countries and work environments teaching English as a foreign language and navigating office jobs in London.
My 30s were all about creating roots, growing through learning and discovering my passions. Overcoming obstacles, self-doubt, and numerous career frustrations, I climbed the corporate ladder.
My 40s were about courage. Self-awareness became my superpower thanks to reflection, meditation, journaling and walking. I made BIG life decisions - got a dog, a cochlear implant and took a life leap to became my own captain.
As I enter my 50s I love what I do and what I have created - on the inside and outside. I work for corporate by day and continue as a career transition coach as a side gig. I am deeply in touch with my intuition and make decisions easily. I live my life my way and avoid the comparison trap. I trust life and am comfortable with the not knowing.
